Raymond F. Billings, 78, of Vineyard Haven, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He was the husband of Doris M. Bettencourt Billings.

Visiting hours are Friday evening, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home on the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road in Oak Bluffs. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. A funeral procession will follow to the Oak Grove Cemetery on State Road in Vineyard Haven for a noon graveside service.

Donations in Mr. Billings’ memory may be made to the local animal shelter care of the County of Dukes County, noting on the check’s memo line that the donation is for the animal shelter. Donations should be sent to the county’s regular address: P.O. Box 190,Edgartown, MA, 02539.
