Laurance W. Walton

Laurance Washington Walton, 76, of Fort Myers, Fla. (formerly of Newton and Wareham) died July 12 of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Joan Walton, of Fort Myers, daughter Patricia Walton McGarry of Wareham, granddaguther Mercedes McGarry of Wareham and sister, Patricia Flaherty of Cypress Calif.

Larry graduated from George Washington University in 1955, earned a masters in theology at Virginia Theological Seminary, and a masters in counseling at New York University. He served in the Episcopal Church, Nicaragua, as a recruiting officer for the executive council of Episcopal Church, New York city, as counselor for clergy, New Jersey, and as Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Newton Lower Falls. His last volunteer job was for the Episcopal Church in El Salvador.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15.
