Jared William Enos was taken from his loving family suddenly on August 14, 2009, engaged in one of his favorite pastimes, riding his beloved dirt bike.
He was born on April 6, 1986 in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Jared spent the first fifteen years of his life in West Tisbury with his loving parents, Bill and Cindy, and his younger brother, Matt. From a very early age, he showed great promise in building, designing, and fabricating machinery. He also was very artistic and as he grew, Jared developed an interest in engine repair and motorworks.
The Enos family moved to Belmont, Maine in June of 2001, where he acquired many lifelong friends who became part of his extended family. He graduated from Belfast Area High School in 2004 and then attended Central Maine Community College where he studied automotive mechanics. Jared then returned to his first home, Martha’s Vineyard, where he was employed by his dear friends, the Belain family, who operated Mid Island Repair.
Most recently, Jared was residing in Belmont, Maine with his loving family.
To his numerous friends and family members, he was “Jay Rod,” a wise, wild, outrageous and beautiful young man with an infectious energy and zest for life. He lived every day like it was his last and always tried to carry on the message that “life is precious; have fun.”
Jared is survived by his parents, Billy and Cindy Enos of Belmont, Maine; his brother, Matthew R. Enos of Belmont; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Cynthia Glass of Waldo, Maine; his paternal grandmother, Catherine Griffin of Falmouth; his aunts and uncles, Melinda and Bruce Pomelow of Bucksport, Maine; Cindy and Andre Bonnell of Edgartown; Robert and Donna Enos of Edgartown; his loving cousins, Elyce and Eli of Edgartown; Caleb and Lucy Enos of Edgartown; Amanda Termini of Edgartown; Marianne Bouchard of Bangor, Maine; and many beloved friends, most of whom reside in Maine and Massachusetts. Jared was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, William C. Enos, of Edgartown.
A celebration of Jared’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 1 p.m. at the family home at 146 Lincolnville Road, Belmont, Maine. A second celebration will be held in Jared’s honor on the Vineyard, the date and time to be announced at a later date.
