John J. Foley Jr. of Vineyard Haven died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 3. He was 60.
Jay was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on Jan. 29, 1952. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Portsmouth, St. Thomas Aquinas in Dover, N.H. in 1970, and St. Bonaventure in Olean, N.Y., in 1974.
His passion and intellect for politics, love of music, his forever-challenging golf game and of course his ability to make clever remarks in a sharp and amusing way will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Diane of Vineyard Haven; his son John J. Foley 3rd and wife Thea of Portsmouth, N.H.; his brother Barry and wife Suzanne; nieces Eilee and Brynn of Portsmouth; and his mother Eileen Foley of Portsmouth, N.H.
