Richard (Dick) Ashton Hutchinson of Vineyard Haven died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Feb. 1, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 82.

Dick was a senior executive with Philip Morris International for over 30 years in a career that included senior management positions in Argentina, Venezuela and New York city. He was born in Paris, France in January 1930, and later moved to South Bend, Ind., where his father assumed the role of president of Studebaker.

Dick graduated from The Hill School in 1948 and from Yale University in 1953. He married June Adams in Paris, France in September 1957. They were happily married for over 50 years.

Dick was a well-loved summer resident of Martha’s Vineyard where he and his wife June have owned a home for more than 40 years. He was an active member of the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club and the Farm Neck Golf Club. Dick considered the Vineyard his home and he cherished the time he spent here with friends and family. His generosity, sense of humor and twinkle in his eye will be missed by all.

Reilly of Chicago, Ill., and Darien, Conn., and their children Paul, Nate and Caroline Reilly; and Alexandra Hutchinson Kline and her husband Richard Gruver Kline of Darnestown, Md., and their children Ashton, Tori and Drew Kline.
