Katherine Anne Haddock North died Nov. 21, 2021. She was 77.

She was born in Oak Bluffs on Sept. 30, 1944 to Marvin and Ruth Cleveland Haddock. The family relocated to Miami, Ariz. when Kathy, plagued by asthma, was nine years old. She graduated from Miami High School in 1962 and married her first husband, Rudy Hernandez, that same year. She married her second husband, Butch North in 1969. They raised four children: Jackie, Lorri, Alan and Lisa.

Kathy was always a hard worker and held several different jobs. Her most memorable was as a Globe, Ariz., school bus driver. She saw many children begin and finish their educations in the more than 25 years that she drove the bus. After retirement, it didn’t matter where she was, she always saw a “bus kid” who remembered her — and she never forgot them.

An active mother, she devoted her life to her children. She loved the holiday season and made it special for her family. She began with Halloween and finished with Christmas, a magical time filled with baking cookies and gingerbread houses and tons of decorating. Her grandchildren grew up experiencing that true love with their Grammie or Nanni, and she passed all the traditions on to them.

She will be missed dearly by her family, especially her children.

She is survived by one sister, Judy Swan of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her four children, Jackie, Lorri, Alan and Lisa; and seven grandchildren.
