Summer officially came to an end Tuesday for Island students, who headed back to the classroom for a new school year. Teachers and staff had long been at work preparing bulletin boards and sharpening pencils, and weekend shopping lists included school supplies. In West Tisbury, principal Donna Lowell-Bettencourt, teachers, and staff welcomed about 341 students back for another academic year.
