Razmus Ruel enjoys contemporary art at Featherstone. Jeanna Shepard

Painted landscapes, photography, carved birds and a celebration of color: art appreciation was the theme this weekend as several Island galleries celebrated the start of the summer season. At Feathersone Sunday visitors filled the Art Barn for the opening reception of The Color Purple, an exhibit that celebrates the color of beach plums and grapes. (It is also the Pantone color of the year.) In West Tisbury people gathered at The Granary for the opening of a show featuring art by Wendy Lichtensteiger, Alison Shaw, and Scott Terry. And over in Chilmark people gathered in the bucolic setting of the Kara Taylor gallery to celebrate the kick off to the summer season with the opening of her show Landscapes and Other Paintings.

The Granary is a world class Gallery....the Island is lucky to have a place like the Granary .... it is a rainy day paradise...if you have not been there ... it is an Island must see..
