Among them was Conrad Neumann, the deeply rooted Chilmark native, distinguished oceanographer and poet, died on Jan. 28.
Paul Pimentel, an alternative energy pioneer who served on the boards for Vineyard Power and Martha’s Vineyard Community Services died on Feb. 5.
Renowned photographer Guy Webster, best known for his album covers, died on Feb. 5.
Fred B. Morgan Jr., the decorated World War II veteran who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and long-serving Edgartown selectman, died on April 7.
Pizza man and yoga instructor, Primo Lombardi of Oak Bluffs died on May 20.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning West Tisbury author and historian Tony Horwitz died on May 27.
Robert L. Bernstein, retired Random House publisher, human rights advocate and longtime Vineyard summer resident, died on May 27.
U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Eugene DeFelice (Ret.), World War II veteran died on May 31.
Adelaide Cromwell, an influential sociologist who devoted her scholarship to African and African-American leadership, died on June 8.
Jerome Paul Kenney, respected Wall Street financier and philanthropist who, with his wife Carol, donated horse farm Misty Meadows for community use, died on June 25.
Will Luckey, a well-known Island musician and music teacher, died on August 17.
High school student and photographer Davin Tackabury died on Sept. 1.
Frank Biondi Jr., celebrated media executive and Island philanthropist instrumental in raising $50 million for a new Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, died on Nov. 25.
Director of the Youth Center, lunch lady at the Tisbury School, and tireless volunteer, Shirley (Tankard) Robinson died on Nov. 29.
Ward Just, a noted war correspondent in Vietnam who became a critically acclaimed novelist, died on Dec. 19.
