It seems every day the fish get bigger at the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby, now nearing the halfway mark.

Though many fishermen have speculated that there are fewer bluefish in the water this year, the leaderboards tell a different story. Of 6,057 total pounds of fish weighed in, 2,481 pounds come from the bluefish category. About a fifth of the bluefish have been caught from shore.
