The newest hotel in Oak Bluffs is also the oldest. After an off-season transformation, the 137-year-old Wesley Hotel has been reborn as Summercamp, which opens for business on Thursday, May 19.

The new name was inspired by the Camp Ground's long history as a summer camp for Methodists, and the vision for the hotel is summery, with bright yellow front doors and a color palette of teals, mint, yellow, rust red and navy.

As a long time former resident of OB and a frequent visitor to the Wesley I am NOT impressed at all with the decor. Nothing Camp Ground, or Vineyardy or 137 year old Grand Old Lady. You missed the mark for me on this one. I was looking for classic wicker, iron beds, classic but comfortable.

How on earth could this have been approved by the campground board. It is a travesty to the history and all that we remember of The Wesley. As a child I remember going there for doughnuts as it was 2 minutes from my families cottage. This at a time that cottage owners can not even change a fixture without months of approval by the board. Again I will say how was this allowed to happen. It brings tears to my eyes.
