Why does everything have to be publicized and advertised, as mentioned in the article surfers like the small crowds, so I’m curious as to why advertising a hidden gem is always the case ?

These spots are no longer a "hidden gem" by any means. The crowds have exploded in recent years. In the warmer months it's totally out of control thanks to a few factors.
