With Labor Day comes the unofficial end to the summer season. Cars and crowds queued up at the ferry terminals today for an unofficial exodus. The SeaStreak ran two boats from Oak Bluffs to New York city Monday to accomodate the large crowds.

Labor Day doesn't mean as much these days so far as an exodus from The Vineyard is concerned. I know I'm old but I like to remember the olden days of the 40's and 50's when come Labor Day one could actually look in the rear view mirror of one's car and not see another vehicle!!!
