Coast Guard Station Menemsha celebrated a century of combined service Saturday, at a ceremony honoring the retirement of longtime auxiliary members Jules Ben David and Kenneth DeBettencourt.
Coast Guard members from around the region gathered in Menemsha Thursday morning to inaugurate the Island’s first volunteer flotilla in 35 years. Timothy Carroll is the commander of the 18-member volunteer flotilla 11-9.
Two Vineyarders were presented with their auxiliary boat crew certifications at a ceremony in Menemsha. The events marks another step toward Martha’s Vineyard having its own auxiliary flotilla.
