The heartbeat of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) rang out through a performance of the Black Brook Singers at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday.
A strong sense of local history was omnipresent as local Wampanoag leaders at an Indigenous People's Day event at Felix Neck spoke about the painful history of colonialism and genocide that the tribe has endured.
Dozens of Wampanoag tribal members from Aquinnah, Chappaquiddick and Mashpee gathered at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary Monday afternoon to observe Indigenous Peoples' Day.
