The Martha’s Vineyard Airport is getting a small share of about $10 billion in grants distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration as part of the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act.
Dukes County commissioners interviewed the final three candidates for three seats on the Martha’s Vineyard Airport Commission at their meeting Wednesday.
Candidates ranging from aviators to landscapers have thrown their hats into the ring to vie for three seats on the Martha’s Vineyard Airport Commission.
Continuing the development of the airport business park, the airport commissioners this week approved the schedule for distributing lots at the park during the next four months. In their Wednesday evening meeting, they also discussed how best to monitor infrastructure development of the park’s buildings.
The commissioners agreed to make seven lots at the business park available for lease over the next four months. Three will be available in October, two in November and two in January.
Airport commissioners this week sought to downplay plans for a major expansion of the airport, saying an upcoming environmental hearing is just the first step in a lengthy review and approval process.
The Martha’s Vineyard Airport Commission voted Thursday to take the first steps toward opening up nine additional acres for development in the business park.
