The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital confirmed Wednesday that it had admitted its first patient for treatment from Covid-19, as cases of the coronavirus statewide rocketed upward.

Edgartown residents Tom and Dianne Durawa, who were marooned at sea for weeks aboard the MS Westerdam cruise ship, are under public health supervision.
Dr. Barbara Krause, who had been a member of the hospital primary care team, died Sunday at the age of 64, the hospital said in a statement released Monday. Dr. Krause had just returned from a family vacation in Florida. She had practiced medicine at the hospital since 2016.
