As the coronavirus pandemic gripped the Island, the Good Shepherd Parish in Oak Bluffs doled out hundreds of food baskets Saturday morning to Island families in need.

About 70 people attended a volunteer orientation session to staff Houses of Grace, a system of winter homeless shelters.

Valerio Destefani of Vineyard Haven will receive the Marian Medal in recognition of service to the Catholic church.

Marianne A. Greene, a member of the Good Shepherd Parish in Vineyard Haven, will be among 82 recipients of the Marian Medal this year.
