2018

I don’t know about the rest of you but this whole spring ahead has left what seems like half my brain behind.

The shortest day passed months ago and minute by minute the days lengthen out and then, to hurry the process along.

Do tell us of the wonders you have seen. The warm sandy beaches you have walked. The mountains you have been carried up in order to ski down.

Hawaii. Florida. Vermont. Bahamas. Texas. Colorado. Mexico. Maine. Costa Rica. All of these glorious places and more have drawn the attention of Chilmark families.

Sugarloaf, Maine was the point of destination for Charlotte Scott, Rodeo Purves-Langer, Hayden Higgins, Laila Fenner, Katherine and Elizabeth Chvatal. After making their way up the elementary ladder, it was finally their turn to take school on the road for the annual right of passage: the fifth grade ski trip.

If you didn’t have an opportunity to stop in to the Chilmark branch of MV Savings Bank on Friday for Albert Fischer’s photography opening, you are still in luck.
