The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys track team finished in eighth place and the girls team finished in 14th place at the MIAA District 5 meet on Sunday at Reggie Lewis Stadium in Roxbury.
The boys hockey team clinched a playoff spot, and swimmers Gabby Carr and Ruairi Mullin broke records during sectionals at MIT.
The boys track team continued its dominance on Sunday by winning the Cape and Islands league championship. The girls squad placed second.
Boys hockey was hot, the swim team held its own in the pool and girls and boys basketball weathered some storms on their home courts. As the countdown nears for playoff season, it was a full week in high school sports.

When Gabby Carr was eight years old and the YMCA first opened on the Island she joined the Makos, the Vineyard’s youth swim team.
