January Thaw
After weeks on end of snow and ice it was nice to see the grass again this week, if even for a few brief moments when the sunshine followed a rainstorm which followed a snowstorm. So what if it’s not really green — it’s our old friend grass. Hello, we haven’t seen you in awhile.
Is this the January thaw? With one day left in the month we can only hope so. Weather has been the story this winter and not just on the Island. The Drudge Report came up with an amusing headline yesterday as former Vice President Al Gore braved a snowstorm to attend an event where he was the featured speaker on global warming.
Meanwhile, Groundhog Day is on Monday and it will be interesting to see what happens when old Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his den.
That is, if he’s not frozen in.
