On Your Mark, Get Set, Eat and Drink
It was Ecclesiastes who said eat, drink and be merry. And who are we to disagree with such a wise scribe. Much better is to take the advice and head over to any or all of the events in store Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16 at the 4th annual Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival.
It’s a two-day palatapalooza with over 15 restaurants from the Island and beyond participating. Sample cuisine from Boston restaurants including o ya, Tremont 647, Dbar, Ginger Park and La Morra. Island chefs from the Beach Plum Inn, Sweet Life Café, Saltwater and the Home Port, to name just a few, will also be serving up tasty delights. Better yet, get a peek under the iron griddle with cooking demonstrations and classes with world-renowned chefs.
There will be drinking too. Wine tastings, sake tastings, port tastings; there will be no grape, or speck of rice, left unturned.
The festival kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with a free pre-opening reception party hosted by the Liberty Hotel at the Eisenhauer Gallery in Edgartown. To start planning what to eat and drink after that, visit mvfoodandwine.com.
The festival is also a fundraiser with proceeds going directly to the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Martha’s Vineyard, the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. But aside from good tastes and good vibes the festival won’t be leaving anything else behind. It’s a zero-waste event partnering up with Eco MV to ensure it leaves no carbon footprint on our sandy shores.
