Poetic Duo

On Tuesday, July 26, the West Tisbury Library continues its summer of celebrating great poets as Michael Palmer and Julie Carr take the stage to share their work.

Mr. Palmer is not your ordinary poet. He has been called “the foremost experimental poet of his generation,” (Wallace Stevens Award Citation) and has worked with the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company for over thirty years collaborating with many visual artists and composers. Over the years he has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest Fund Writer’s Award, two NEA grants, the Shelley Memorial Award of the Poetry Society of America, and the Wallace Stevens Prize from the Academy of American Poets.

Ms. Carr is the author of four books of poetry, most recently 100 Notes on Violence, winner of the Sawtooth Award (Ahsahta Press 2010). In 2010 she was awarded an NEA fellowship and is the copublisher, with Tim Roberts, of Counterpath Press.

The reading begins at 5 p.m. at the library. For more information, call 508-693-3366.
