In past years the Martha’sVineyard Book Festival was a one-day event taking place at the Chilmark Community Center. This year the organizers have added a second day at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, at the Harbor View hotel. On Sunday, August 4, the event moves to the Chilmark Community Center from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A series of panels highlights Saturday’s events beginning at 11 a.m. with History: Past and Present with Jill Lepore, Tony Horwitz and Tom Reiss. At 11:50 a.m. the Whitey Bulger trial comes to the Vineyard as Kevin Cullen, Shelly Murphy and Dick Lehr, journalists and authors of two recent books, discuss the legendary Boston kingpin. Ward Just, Richard Russo and many other authors round out the day’s panels.
On Sunday the readings begin as all 27 authors take the stage to discuss their most recent books.
