Saturday, July 27: Big change in weather. Bright sunny morning. Sailboats from the Edgartown Yacht Club parade out of the harbor early. Light breeze. Perfect air for leisurely sailing. A small fleet of Optimist sailboats negotiate the swimming buoys in front of the Chappaquiddick Beach Club. Deep blue skies in the afternoon. Pretty sunset.

Sunday, July 28: Rain overnight. Last rain drops fall at 7 a.m. Partly cloudy morning. Periods of bright sunshine. Moments when clouds thicken. A thick fog bank hangs south of the Vineyard in the afternoon. Mostly sunny afternoon. The smell of fresh cooked beef on the grill in Vineyard Haven.

Tuesday, July 30: Bright and sunny. A light southwest wind picks up later in the day. Unlimited visibility across Nantucket Sound. The topsail schooner Shenendoah leaves Vineyard Haven, with crew raising sail. A sailboat nearby moves forward with only its genoa. High flying cirrus clouds.

Wednesday, July 31: Sunny and warm. Rose of Sharon are in full bloom in Vineyard Haven, along with day lilies. Petunias and geraniums abound in flower boxes in the Oak Bluffs campground. A beach day.
