The Hebrew Center is hosting a scholar-in-residence this weekend. Jacob Siegel is a student at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah Rabbinical School, an open and modern Orthodox rabbinical school. He lives in New York city and works as a Jewish environmental educator, and as a kosher slaughterer.

Over the weekend he will host a discussion called Jews and Food: An Exploration.

On Friday at 5:30 p.m. he will talk about his work in the Kosher meat industry. On Sunday at 11:30 a.m. the discussion will move to the Grey Barn Farm in Chilmark for some actual animal slaughtering and discussions on how to make this a meaningful act.
