Half the West has burned up for months and has suffered from years-long drought and all Mr. Obama can do is play golf on Martha’s Vineyard? No one begrudges anyone his or her time off, but from our Presidents we expect more. Like some executive decisions to finally begin deploying more federal money and other resources to solve these and other national problems with Rooseveltian responses and proactive, sincere and bold leadership.

It’s not too late to seek a newer, better world, Mr. President. Make the calls, please.
