The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club’s Blooming Art Show, which pairs flowers and artwork, will become an annual event.

The show, previously presented every other year, is modeled after the Museum of Fine Art’s Art in Bloom show, an annual exhibit of floral arrangements inspired by museum masterpieces.

Garden Club president Tracie Clark said the garden club decided to make Blooming Art an annual event after an enthusiastic response to the show last June and several requests for the show to return again year.

“Frankly, we could not not do it again,” Ms. Clark said in a press release.

This June the Old Mill in West Tisbury will be filled with artwork created by 40 Vineyard artists and floral arrangements designed to complement them.

To prepare for the show Garden Club members recently participated in a hands-on floral arrangement workshop led by Donaroma’s floral designers Mariko Kawaguchi and Sue Weyl.

The opening reception and gala for Blooming Art is Thursday, June 23. The exhibit will continue through Sunday, June 26.

The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club was established in 1924. For more information about the club or Blooming Art 2016 visit marthasvineyardgardenclub.org or contact Tracie Clark at 978-798-0123.
