Madison Hughes of Oak Bluffs, a former standout with the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School lacrosse team, was named to the Northeast Conference First Team on Thursday. She was one of two players from Central Connecticut State University to make the first team roster. This is the third season Hughes has earned NEC honors and second year on the first team.

Hughes, a senior at Central Connecticut, signed with the Blue Devils in 2011. She was the first player in the history of the high school girls’ program to sign with a division one school. She started on the varsity team all four years in high school and was named team captain her senior year.

This year, she led the Blue Devils in scoring with 26 goals and 14 assists, totalling 40 points. She added 40 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers this season. She started all six games and finished ninth in the league in points per game in conference play.
