Ballots are shaping up in for spring town elections on the Vineyard, with contested selectmen’s races in West Tisbury and Oak Bluffs.

Edgartown voters will see a two-way contest for the planning board.

The filing deadline was last week in Edgartown, West Tisbury, and Oak Bluffs for annual town elections on April 13. The last day candidates can withdraw from the ballot is March 10.

In Oak Bluffs, a three-way race for two seats on the board of selectmen is under way. Incumbents Michael J. Santoro and Walter W. Vail are both vying for another term on the board, facing a challenge from planning board chairman Brian C. Packish. Mr. Santoro and Mr. Vail are both seeking their third terms on the board.

The other contested race on the Oak Bluffs ballot is a two-way race for a seat on the board of health. Timothy M. Peters and Thomas Zinno are running. Incumbent Patricia Bergeron is not seeking re-election.

In West Tisbury incumbent selectman Richard R. Knabel is vying for his fourth term on the board, facing a challenge from engineer and longtime town resident Kent A. Healy.

Elaine Barnett, Robert Hauck and Wendy Nierenberg are all running for two three-year terms on the library board of trustees in West Tisbury.

Incumbent Edgartown planning board member Alan O. Wilson faces a challenge for a three-year term on the board from Lucy Morrison, the former planning board clerk.

Selectman Margaret Serpa is running unopposed for a seventh term.

The filing period is still open in other Island towns. In Chilmark the deadline is March 8 to file nomination papers for the April 26 town election. The deadline is March 21 in Tisbury for the May 9 election, and April 4 for the May 10 Aquinnah town election.

Nomination papers can be gathered and returned at town clerks’ offices; town clerks also have information about what positions will be on the ballot.
