Former President Obama, who vacationed with his family on Martha’s Vineyard for seven summers while in office, returns this weekend for a three-week stay, sources have confirmed.

Mr. Obama and his family will spend most of the month of August in two rented houses in Chilmark. Both are houses the Obamas have rented before, one off North Road, the other off South Road.

The Obamas are due to arrive this coming weekend and depart on August 27, marking their longest Island visit to date.

Secret Service and advance teams were seen Wednesday afternoon at the Chilmark Store. The advance teams were also spotted Thursday at Island golf courses that are favorite haunts for Mr. Obama when he is on vacation.

Summer rentals and other vacation arrangements for the Obamas have historically been handled by Wallace and Co. Sotheby’s International Real Estate in Edgartown.

The First Family vacationed on the Island for seven out of eight summers during the Obama presidency. The family also visited the Island in the years before that, with some of Mr. Obama’s first presidential fundraisers taking place on the Island.
