Chicken Alley Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven is not just a place with an awesome name. It is a place to go to give back to the Island. All items for sale benefit Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

Once a year the shop holds a huge art and collective sale for choice items held aside all year long by knowledgeable and watchful staff members, most of whom are volunteers.

This year’s sale is Sunday, August 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. The event is the brainchild of Olga Hirshhorn, who came up with the idea more than a decade ago. There will also be a Slick Chick Fashion Show feature beautiful designer and vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories on Friday evening at 5 p.m..

Chicken Alley Thrift Shop is located at 38 Lagoon Pond Road in Vineyard Haven.
