It seemed we might have to build an ark this past weekend. I cannot remember the last time it rained all day and night and them another half a day without stopping. My thought is if this was snow this storm would have made the Blizzard of 1978 look like a flurry. Thank goodness it was warm.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Damon Reed who celebrated his day Feb. 10; Franchesca Carlos and Maksim Pachico, Feb. 11; Kayleigh Boyd, Feb. 12; Philip Oliveira, Feb. 13; and to Laila Branca who celebrates her day Friday Feb. 16.

Bird watching has been the thing for me these past few weeks. I have had Juncos, blue jays, chickadees, sparrows, all the usual feeders. I always wait for a new feeder as a lot of my friends have had pine warblers but I have yet to see them.

It is a wonder I have any birds at all seeing Merida has now discovered the game of chasing the squirrel off the feeder. It all starts out with the squirrel running along the back of the deck stopping in front of the door to twitch his or her tail at the dog, which starts her whining and running back and forth until I let her out. It was cute at first but it is slowly wearing on my nerves, and the squirrel knows it.

Felix Neck is offering and activities for February Vacation, including identifying animal tracks, games of all kinds, shelter building, creature crafts, live animals. The program is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Whatever you are doing for February vacation I hope you have a safe one. Mickey is always the happy place to visit but I know there are those who love to ski.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
