We have had some great weather. Nice during the day, the skies are beautiful, the night skies are bright and full of stars and it is cool at night to sleep. However, we do need rain as the ground is so dry. If we could only regulate it so it is warm and beautiful during the day and then we could turn on the big sprinkler in this sky. How perfect would that be?

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Hugo Burrows and Katelyn Tankersley, who celebrated their day July, Talia Young, July 19, and to Judah Levy who celebrates his day July 20.

Roy Langley celebrated a milestone on July 10 — he turned 90. Roy is a lifelong summer visitor and Edgartown summer resident since 1970. All of Roy’s seven children and their spouses and 11 grandchildren were on the Island and present for his birthday celebration weekend coming from as far away as Charlotte, N.C., Jackson, Wyo. and Washington D.C.

It is July, the Island is full, there is a lot of traffic, there are a lot of people on the beach, town is full and I really don’t have any news. I don’t see too many of my friends as they are all as busy as I am or we are away visiting friends or family. I was away this weekend and everyone is working and making hay while the sun shines. If we run into each other it is short as we are late for something, or we are so tired we can’t wait to get home or we have to go to the store before it gets too busy. Whichever way it is, I am still newsless.

I want to wish Pam Dolby a very happy retirement. Pam has retired as the town administrator. She has served our town well after 43 years. She served on the parks department, also in the board of health department, she was and EMT and then town administrator. So I think she deserves a happy retirement and lots of time with her husband, kids and grandchildren. So thank you Pam and enjoy.

Don’t forget the Portuguese Feast is this weekend. It is a great time to run into friends, have some great food, listen to music and bid on lobster and sweet bread. The members work hard to make everyone happy so I hope you have a chance to go.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
