Okay, we are at the time of year that one day we are wearing capris, tank top and flip flops and the next day, it’s jeans, shirt, sweater and maybe sneakers. I’m still fighting the flip-flops, the worst to put away.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Christopher Cardoza and Michael Magaraci who celebrated their day Sept. 20; Benjamin Donato, Sept. 24; Michael Waters, Sept. 25; Victor DeSouza, Sept. 26; Quinlan Meuse, Jake Stanton, Sept. 27; and to Helena Goncalves, who celebrates her day Friday, Sept. 28.
As many people know, September and October are wedding months on the Vineyard. I have known that, in the past, there have been up to 40 weddings in one weekend. How does that seem possible and where do they all happen?
This weekend, one of the couples that got married made me feel a little older. Cayla Morris was the bride of longtime boyfriend, Steve. Sorry I don’t know his last name, but I do know by the pictures I saw they are very happy.
Cayla is the daughter of Steve and Cathy Morris. Many moons ago Cathy and I worked together at Dukes County Savings Bank and I remember the day that she and Steve got engaged. It did not seem that long ago but now seeing Cayla all grown and married sent me back to reality. So, congratulations Steve and Cayla and here is to many happy years together.
As we come into October, it is the time of year I like to remind runners and walkers that it is bow and arrow season. Yes, men will be sitting in trees again, but the main thing is that you make sure you whistle, talk, sing, whatever if you are near the woods so that you will not be mistaken for a deer. Also, keep your dogs on leashes or at least have an orange color on them if they are in the wooded areas.
Flu season is also here. Stop and Shop Pharmacy is giving flu shots. So, if you can’t make it to your doctors, give them a try.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
