I have lived on the Vineyard most of my life and never have we had a tornado warning. So, when the warning came, I thought It is not April, and then looked at the radar and then out the shed where I work. I saw the black sky but, thank God, no tornado. Later, there were many pictures on Facebook of people who saw the water spout firsthand. It was amazing but I am glad I was far away from it.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Isabella Burns, Mason Burns, Noah Burns and Highly Marsh who all celebrated their day Oct. 27; Sydney Bruguiere and Tobias Russell Schaeffer, Oct. 29; Lille Cabral, Oct. 30; Scout Hart, Oct. 31; and to Jesse Meyers and Gianni Navarrete who celebrate their day Friday, Nov. 2.

Congratulations to Donna and Eddie Montesion who celebrated their fiftieth anniversary on Oct. 27. They have raised two beautiful daughters: Melissa Montesion Vasiliadis and Martha Montesion. They also have two grandchildren, Alex and Isabella Vasiliadis. Much love and best wishes to you both and here is to many more years together.

Beth and Bill Erickson traveled to Maine to meet their new great-grandson, Colton Jackson, who was born to their grandson, Jonathan Jackson, and his girlfriend Kelly. Colton is also the grandson of Laura Jackson Andrewski, great-grandson of Glen and Rosemary Jackson, and great-great-grandson of Gerry Jackson. Congratulations to all.

I think, even if you are not a sports fan, the last few weeks has been a very busy one with the World Series and football. It has been a few weeks of late nights and, now that we won the World Series, we can get to sleep before midnight.

If you get a moment and want to drive around town, check out the scarecrows that the Charter School has made. They were put out on Sunday and they are always great to see. There are some very creative minds among these young children.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday night. We get an extra hour of sleep and gain light in the morning but, but by the time you get home from work, it will be dark.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
