“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” was probably the song choice this weekend. The sun was shining but that did not help the day warm up. Now we will be on watch for snow for Christmas.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Joao Araujo, who celebrated Dec. 9; Aedan Coogan and Colton Filiault, Dec. 10; Benjamin Fuller and Alissa Habekost, Dec. 12; and to Margaret Moffett who celebrates her day Dec.14.

I was at Donaroma’s the whole weekend and, by the number of people that went through on Friday and Saturday night, Christmas in Edgartown was a success. Word has it that even though it was very cold, town was packed and people enjoyed every event offered.

We were very busy and of course, we had a Santa’s helper at the floral department. Our Santa was there from 10 till 4 p.m. and he was quite busy. He had Leo, the elf from Jamaica, who was a big help and a big hit with all the little ones. Santa is very even keel so the kids warm up to him fast and soon tell all.

My great niece, Amanda, and her fiancé, Thom, and their two boys, Oliver, who is two, and Jonah, who is eight months, were here along with my other great niece, Rhianna, and her boyfriend, Nick. Oliver and Jonah loved Santa and Oliver soon let Santa know he wanted a new tambourine for Christmas.

It was a weekend filled with lots of memories for young and old. Although I did not see it, in the midst of all the people in the main store, one man proposed to his girlfriend and the answer was yes. So, congratulations to the mystery couple.

Now the rush is on. Christmas shopping, wrapping, getting cookie ingredients–is it possible that Christmas is only 11 days away?

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
