Martha’s Vineyard public schools will close early Tuesday due to the oncoming winter storm.

The regional high school will close at 11; elementary schools will close at noon. The charter school is closing at 12.30 p.m.

A winter weather advisory calls for snow, sleet and wind beginning Tuesday afternoon.

Snow accumulations on the Cape and Islands are expected to be one to three inches, with ice and sleet, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton.

Heavier snow is expected in western, central and northern Massachusetts.
