We have had it all so far this week — lots of wind, snow and rain, then freezing rain and three inches of snow which was gone by noon. Now we are getting sun and freezing cold weather. But it is March and spring is just around the corner. Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Callie Oteri, who celebrated her day March 3; Lethicia Diniz, March 4; Ryan Nola and Domminy Ribeiro, March 5; and to Luiz Magri, who celebrated his day March 7. Vacation week is over but with the storm that was predicted for Sunday into Monday, there were a lot of Islanders stuck in Florida trying to get home. I am sure some were irritated but some took advantage of their extra day of vacation.

Don’t forget we turn the clocks ahead this weekend. We will now have an hour more of daylight. That certainly makes a diffidence in energy level at the end of the day.

The Edgartown Library will have a candidates night March 16 at 3 p.m.

The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is sponsoring a candidate forum prior to the local elections. The public is invited to attend and listen to their Edgartown candidates as they present their positions. There are contested races this year, and there should be some lively discussions. All candidates and voters are invited to attend.

Tom Hallahan, executive director of Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, will speakd at the Federatec Church on Sunday March 10 at the 10:30 a.m. service of worship.

For more information call 508-627-4421 or email officefederatedchurchmv@gmail.com.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
