Sun and warmth, spring is really trying to get here. I have more crocuses blooming and the daffodils are growing like crazy.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Christofer Almeida and Brielle Cortez who celebrated March 17; Harlow Hannah and Caleb Lucier, March 19; Mackenzie Duart, March 20; and to Jack Chronister and Henry Jackson who celebrate their day today March 22.

Last Friday night I was once again reminded of the talented kids that live on our little Island. The Island Children’s Chorus performed at the Performing Arts Center. The chorus includes children from fourth grade to seniors in high school from all over the Island.

They practice their songs at each school then meet at the high school the day of the concert, rehearse for a short

time, and then put on the concert that night. The songs were performed as if they had practiced for weeks. I sure hope people were listening because there were some beautiful voices on the stage.

There are only two Sundays remaining for the free lasagna luncheons at the Federated Church: March 24 and 31. The lunch is served from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

I was off-Island for St Patrick’s Day. I traveled home on Monday with my nephew Thom who is a paramedic in Oak Bluffs. He has to be at work at 8 a.m. and in order for him to make it on time we have to take the 6 a.m. boat. It is also known as the commuter boat as all the men and women who work on the Island catch this boat. I don’t take this boat often but you can see that these people have a whole routine down. They have their seats and tables, there are some doing computer work, some chatting, and there are others napping and getting in a few winks. I give them credit as it is a big commute.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
