This past weekend could not have been any better. It was warm, the sun was shining all day, and there was a breeze. It was perfect for graduation and all the weddings.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Allie Branca, James Gould-Lamont, Cassandra Silva, and Lejean Torres who all celebrated June 8; Joana Torres, June 9; Rose Levesque, June 10, and to Christopher Greene and Brooke Roten who celebrate their day today, June 10.

Congratulations to the MVRHS class of 2019 on their graduation this past Sunday. What a beautiful day they had as the purple and white entered the Tabernacle.

Town is really waking up. The stores are open, all the restaurants are ready to serve up their specialties, and the waterfront is coming to life with boats filling the moorings.

The only downfall is the pollen which is still quite heavy and now the talk of a lot of people. Everyone is feeling the effects, and there is a lot of laryngitis and runny eyes. I even took my car through the car wash, though I was afraid it would fall apart as it hasn’t seen a bath in so long.

On June 11 at 7 p.m. Tom Dresser will be at the Edgartown Free Public Library to discuss his book, A Travel History of Martha’s Vineyard. He shows how the evolution of transportation affected the settling of our Island and how it will likely affect our future.

Don’t forget to check out the movie night on Wednesdays at the library.

The bikes and mopeds are out in force, so remember when you leave the house to allow time for slower traffic navigating around these devices driving down the road.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
