Livingston Taylor has been playing music on the Vineyard for over 50 years and he will continue playing here on Friday, August 23 at the Old Whaling Church as part of the Martha’s Vineayrd Concert Series.

Livingston first visited the Island in 1949 as a child while vacationing with his musical family. It was his older brother Alex who inspired him to think seriously about becoming a musician after he came home from a show with a guitar in one hand and a $20 bill in the other.

Livingston signed with Capricorn Records in 1970 and earned national recognition with his top 40 hits I’ll Come Running and I Will Be in Love with You in the late 1970s.

He has also been teaching stage peformance at Boston’s Berklee College of Music since 1989. In other words, the man knows how to entertain an audience.

The show begins at 8 p.m. and Livington will be joined by his nephew, Isaac Taylor, whose CD Peace in the Valley came out in 2017.
