I know some of us are very happy with the cooler weather that has come to us this week. I think it is more that we are all happy that the humidity is down. I love that you can wear long sleeves or short and be comfortable in both. Now let see what next week brings.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Anna Rodrigues who celebrated August 24, Penelope Thornton on August 25, Cali Grow and Dani Grow on August 26, Rayssa Donato and Zakery Perry on August 28, and to Ana Costa and Connor Graves who celebrated August 29.

There are mixed feelings that the Island has quieted down. I have been downtown a couple of times these past few weeks and I did not see a difference. I went around a couple of times for a parking space and the places I went were quite busy. But there is one extra week this year.

This is my favorite time of year at the nursery. I will miss the colors of the flowers of summer, but I love the colors of the mums. They will be coming in along with the ornamental peppers and cabbages. I always think that we are not in Kansas anymore when I see all the different colors of fall.

Sunday, September 1, will be the last Sunday for summer hours for the Federated Church, with a short service at 8 a.m. and the full regular service at 9:30 a.m. Beginning Sunday, September 8, there will be one regular service, starting at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. School will be opening soon. Please slow down in the school area of town. The kids come out of nowhere, and you may need time to stop.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
