Recently, Island Grown Initiative’s free community lunch program concluded its third summer in operation. The program provided healthy and hearty lunches to any member of the community most every weekday.

IGI would first cook the meals using the facilities of MVRHS and the culinary talent of public school staff members before serving them across the Island at other locations that are free and open to any member of the community. The locations included the Family Center in Vineyard Haven, the Oak Bluffs Public Library, and the West Tisbury Public Library. As a frequent participant in the community lunch program and known aficionado of a free lunch, I would like to thank all staff members and volunteers associated with IGI’s community lunch program. These events truly served the entirety of the community all while promoting health and friendship. By all accounts, IGI is a wonderful organization pursuing the noblest of endeavors. Thank you!
