It has not been as hot as I thought it was going to be, but it is still warm and everyone is enjoying the weather. The ground is still very dry so I would love to see some rain, but we cannot complain about the way things are going.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Nathan Carletti, Rita Hurley and Addison Shemit, who all celebrated Sept. 22; Autumn Donnelly, Sept. 23; Hannah Batista, Sept. 25; and to Olive Dockery and Alexander Wallace who celebrate their day Sept. 27.

I don’t know what it is but the movie Jaws has been the talk of many conversations recently. The movie was made in the 70’s and people still ask about the places it was filmed: the Jaws bridge, the house where the Brody’s lived, the beach Alex Kinter was eaten. I think out of all the people Alex is always the big talk. He is also alive and well and working at the Wharf restaurant in town. Jeff Voorhees, who played Alex, can be seen almost every day at his station at the Wharf, and is always willing to give out autographs and talk about the movie. If you get a chance, stop in and say hi and get an autograph.

The library is partnering with the League of Voters for voter’s registration day on Tuesday, Sept. 24. If you’ve recently moved, turned 18 or changed your name, you might need to update your voter registration. Volunteer will be set up at a table near the library entrance, ready to help you take part in the democratic process.

Winter is coming and even though we may like to hunker down and weather it out, sometimes there is that little part of you that wants to get out and do something. Whether you have a lifelong interest in nature or are just getting started, Felix Neck has a place for you. Give them a call to learn more about the variety of opportunities available. Visit massaudubon.org/felixneck or call 508-627-4850 to get involved.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
