I am sitting here listening to the rain and wondering what it would have been like if it was snow. The wind is blowing and the boats are canceled. This sure has been a very windy winter.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Danielle Meyer who celebrated her day Dec. 7; Joao Araujo, Lorenzo DaSilva, Dec. 9; Aedan Coogan, Colton Filiault, Dec. 10; Rhian Martins, Dec. 11; and to Benjamin Fuller, and Alissa Habekost who celebrated Dec. 12.

Bill and Sue Glazier had a wonderful Thanksgiving, hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Adam Wansiewicz of Oak Bluffs.

Twenty six family members and friends, coming from various places throughout the country, enjoyed three turkeys, two cooked by Sue and one by Cindy, as well as a great variety of delicious veggies, salads and desserts.

Thanksgiving morning many ran in the annual 5K Turkey Trot, all wearing a specially designed T-shirt showing a colorful turkey on the front, and “Just a Bunch of Turkeys” written on the back. The day after Thanksgiving, a beautiful day, they went on a family hike at Menemsha Hills Reservation.

It was wonderful, and a first, having so many family and friends in one place at one time.

The Friends of the Edgartown free Public Library will be having a poinsettia sale, raffle with gift baskets and gift certificates, along with coasters, matching games from Margot Datz’s mural art. All proceeds benefit the programs sponsored by the Friends at the library.

The Martha’s Vineyard Vegan Society is back at the Edgartown Library with their monthly free food distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables. Everyone is welcome to bring a bag to fill with your choice of the goods on offer. Members of the Society will be here to share recipes, serve healthy snacks, and provide information on the benefits of eating a plant-based diet. It is one bag per adult, while supplies last.

It is Christmas in Edgartown weekend and the town looks beautiful with all the lights and trees. The planters are full of greens and stores are darning beautiful wreaths. There are a lot of activities for young and old, I hope all who attends this great weekend enjoys all the activities.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
