Sure, you seasonal residents think we have nothing to do all winter but wait for your return. Much as we love you, this is also a very busy season for us.

Mike Sisco is hosting a sober night on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Barn, Bowl, and Bistro from noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Twenty dollars gets you in for pizza, coffee, and the tournament with proceeds benefiting Vineyard Sober House. I’ll see you there. I have not lifted a bowling ball in many a year. The time has come.

Denys Wortman is hosting a First Light Cafe at the museum on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at noon, with a discussion of his father’s artwork.

And it’s time to start working on your lip sync act. Planned Parenthood of Martha’s Vineyard is hosting a show on March 7 at the P.A. Club, and anyone can enter. The audience will be in on the judging. All you J’Lo and Shakira wannabes here’s your opportunity. I’ll see you there.

Congratulations to Peter Wuerth on the new addition to his family, canine Ricky. I saw a picture and Ricky is adorable. Truthfully, what dog isn’t? And if you are longing for a pup contact Brenda L. Tucker. She has King Charles puppies available. I hope you all saw the Dog Bowl last Sunday. Totally heartwarming.

In local sports, our Vineyard basketball team beat Nantucket last week in a tight 66-63 game on Island. Devoted basketball mother, Kristen M. Jenkinson, always keeps me up to date.

In sad news I learned former Islander, Rachel Rice, died off-Island on Dec. 14. She was the daughter of Jake and Sue Rice and the sister of Mathew Rice. I remember many sunny days at their home on Hines Point. May she rest in peace.

The birthday bandwagon had a busy day on Feb. 4. The celebrants were Ronnie DeLuz, Laurie Thompson, Lillian Marie DiMartino and Connor Dunham. Marcia R. Wise observed Feb. 6. Sandy Pratt parties on Feb. 12. And on Feb. 14 Linda O’Leary takes the cake. Many happy returns.
