Calling all rabbit aficionados. Tawny is a sweet, friendly, funny, playful bunny that someone must want to give her a loving home. She’s a juvenile, dwarf Dutch bunny who has been spending her time hopping around the hallway, climbing in and out of her cage, and hanging out on a chair. She’s been hand raised and adores people. She also enjoys snuggling. As an added bonus, she’s been spayed so she would make a fine companion for another bunny, and she uses a litter box. This girl has tons of personality; come meet her and see if she charms you.

Mona was an outdoor barn cat, making her shy around people. Volunteers have been working with her and she enjoys petting and purrs and purrs, and has begun seeking out attention. She’s about a year old and is gray with a little white on her chest and big golden eyes. She may always be shy but also may bond strongly with a new owner. Stop in and see if she could be the cat for you, or even just to help socialize her.

Mac also needs home where he can live outdoors and/or be a barn cat. He’s a young tuxedo and is shy.

We have two black and white Abyssinian guinea pigs at the shelter, both with rosettes on their heads. The boys are brothers who get along so can be caged together, but do not need to be adopted together. The larger of the two is Mr. President; his brother is Dolphin. Both are hand raised and some of the nicest piggies we’ve met. These boys would be a delight for any family.

Mark your calendars, the annual rabies clinic will be held March 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Tisbury fire station. All dogs must be on leash, and cats and ferrets need to be in carriers. The fee is $25 per animal and the vaccine is good for one year unless a prior rabies certificate is presented.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list, we need laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, paper towels and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and sheets and such, but request that you do not leave things outside the door when the shelter is closed. Often the items are things we aren’t able to use and it can be costly for us to dispose of them, so please come by with your donations during shelter hours, or call first. If we can’t take your items, we can usually suggest someplace that will.

If anyone needs dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. Stop in during regular shelter hours. Crates too are available for free. And we are always taking jewelry donations for the summer garden party.

Volunteers are also always welcome for a variety of tasks.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
