The flipflops are out, the short sleeves are out — I think I cursed myself as I was searching for a long-sleeve shirt the other night when the wind was blowing. We are in for some nice weather but I also hope that we get some much-needed rain.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Ana Amaral-Espinoza, who celebrated her day June 13; Christopher Greene, Brooke Roten and Zeke Thibodeau, June 14; Kayra Carlos, June 17; and to Teagan Brown and Sophia Sampaio who celebrated their day June 18.

Congratulations to the Edgartown eighth grade class of 2020. They held a small graduation ceremony in the parking lot of the Edgartown School. Parents backed their cars into spaces and the podium was set up across from them. The principal, Dr. Shelley Einbinder-Fleischmann, read the names of the graduates and they went up from the car to the podium to get their diplomas. After that was done, the class marched down to the Whaling Church steps where they waited for their parents and fire trucks to parade by. They then marched down to Memorial Wharf and met up with their parents. It may not have been the traditional graduation but it will be a memorable one. Congratulations to all.

I am always happy to look out my back door and see the lights on at my neighbors, Drew and Paula Smith’s house. They were here for the weekend to help celebrate Liam Smith upon his graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy. The celebration took place at the family’s favorite place — South Beach. By the looks of the pictures, a good time was had by all.

We are seeing more and more people. That is okay but I hope everyone stays safe and takes all the precautions we have been told to do so we all have a safe and healthy summer.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
