At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business, by appointment only.

Thank you to all who have consistently been making donations. Your donations have made us able to keep our community projects going during this pandemic.

There is a three-year-old, male, yellow Labrador retriever named Charlie looking for a new home. He’s been neutered and is up-to-date on his shots. Charlie would do best in a home with older children, over 12. He does have some issues so we feel he would be happiest in a home where he can accompany someone to work as a truck dog. Charlie is not at the shelter so please call to set up an appointment if you would like to meet him.

Our two tabby cats looking for homes are Lemmy and Holly. Both these cats need owners with big hearts and patience. Lemmy is a male tabby, about eight years old. He’s very shy and confused so he needs someone who will give him the time to find his confidence. If you think you could be the person/people for Lemmy please call the shelter to set up an appointment.

Holly has been with us for some time now. She’s about six years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She will, however, need someone cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality. Can you be the one to give Holly a home?

We would like to remind everyone that tick and flea season is definitely here so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments. Additionally, please be aware of temperatures before taking your dog out on errands with you. A hot car can become a deadly place for a dog very quickly. And remember to check pavement temperatures before taking your best friend for a walk. Hot pavement can burn delicate pads. If it’s too hot on your barefoot, it’s too hot for your pup.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list, we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. And if anyone needs any crates, we have an abundance and are happy to share those too. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
